How Much Should You Pay for Your Lasik Procedure
Can you put a price on your vision? How much are you willing to pay to have a successful surgical vision correction? Let’s face it, if only the cost of Lasik procedures were more affordable, perhaps almost all with myopia, hyperopia, or astigmatism would go for a Lasik surgery. But due to the high cost of the procedure, many are saying the benefits and the risk are not worth the price.
But, how much should you really pay for your Lasik vision correction?
The going rate ranges from as low as 500 bucks to a couple of grand or more. The bulk of the Lasik price goes to the professional fee of the Lasik doctor. The rest goes to the maintenance cost of the apparatus used, lab materials, overhead cost of the Lasik institute, prescriptions needed for pre- and post-op care, and some advertising fees if any. More experienced eye doctors will charge more than the rookies in the business.
The typical cost of Lasik surgery per eye is over a $1,000. Beware for those that advertise a lower price for either they have excluded other fees involved or their eye doctors have less experience when it comes to Lasik vision correction. Read the fine print. For a high end Lasik eye institute, it’s typical to see prices from just over $2,000 to $3,000. They can be exorbitant. But, you could settle to a Lasik institute that offers cheaper Lasik procedures provided that you do a thorough background check on their services first.
If you want to go for blade-free Lasik surgery, then expect a higher price. Blade-free Lasik surgery involves the use of laser instead of a mechanical microkeratome to create the corneal flap. Thus the high cost.
At the end of the day, you should not base your decision on where to get your Lasik vision correction done on Lasik cost alone. After all, you could not really put a price on the health of your vision.
