When a person reaches the age of 40 to 50 years old, he or she is prone to develop a vision problem called presbyopia. The reliability of monovision eye surgery had been questioned until the FDA approved the procedure fairly recently, in July of 2007. Now, many eye surgeons are prescribing the operation to their patients over 40 years old to free them from using bifocal correction glasses.
